Maltas principal active asset manager and brokerage house is keen to increase its fixed income trading resource by the recruitment of a new Structured Fixed Income Prop Trader. They will in effect be joining an established fixed income trading desk as a senior trader and handed a portfolio of some of the firms top clients.
The firmâs client base is drawn from international financial institutions, including banks, hedge funds, brokers, insurance / reinsurance firms and family offices. They also have a large customer base amongst sophisticated high net worth private investors.
The Structured Fixed Income Prop Trader manages the fixed income trading desk. This deals mainly in both public and private instruments, European and global commercial paper, bonds, short and medium-term notes. There is also an element of arranging complex asset backed lending and organizing Reposâ etc.
Besides that the Structured Fixed Income Prop Trader also forms a key component of the main investment committee, so it should be expected to be responsible for monitoring investments. There is also the need to supervise and arrange complex and relevant research which is provided to the advisory team for customer consumption.
To be considered for the Structured Fixed Income Prop Trader role you have at least three years prior experience of working on a trading desk in a bank or brokerage house.
You should have a sound knowledge and track record of achievement in the fixed income / Equity trading. The client envisages that this will be of at least three years in length and have included advising high net worth private investors on complex, cross border bond transactions of both a public and private placement nature. It would also be beneficial if you have had taken part in commercial relations in a banks Cross-Border Trade Department. It is expected this experience will allow you to make profitable trades, conduct global fixed income transactions, develop a tailored bond trading strategy for your clients and undertake detailed market analyse and be able to articulate how this will impact all the positions within your portfolio.
You will need to have had experience with Reuters and Bloomberg.
Finally it would be beneficial if you possess a University degree in Finance or Economics or hold a financial services qualification.
The majority of the successful applicant to the Structured Fixed Income Prop Trader earning will take the form of an uncapped, unlimited bonus based upon trading profitability. There is also a basic salary and a full range of executive perks.
